Klopp Unfazed by Salah’s Saudi Arabia Transfer Talks

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is brushing off speculation about forward Mohamed Salah potentially moving to a Saudi Arabian club in January.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is brushing off speculation about forward Mohamed Salah potentially moving to a Saudi Arabian club in January.

The Reds turned down a £150 million bid for the 31-year-old before the Premier League transfer window closed on September 1st. Though the door seems open for a future Saudi move, Klopp isn’t worried right now.

“You’re joking, right?” Klopp said when asked about January transfers a week after the window closed. “Obviously you can’t wait until December to ask these questions. We’ll see what happens. Until then, I’m not concerned at this moment.”

Klopp also addressed former captain Jordan Henderson’s recent comments that he didn’t feel wanted by Liverpool before moving to Al-Ettifaq this summer. Henderson had been with the Reds since 2011, making 492 appearances and winning 7 major titles.

“I told Henderson I wanted him to stay but had to discuss the possibility of him not playing regularly,” Klopp explained. “If he performed well, he could’ve had 50 games. But he’s not great when not playing.”

Klopp said he couldn’t promise Henderson a starting midfield role, leading the captain to feel unwanted. But Klopp insists there’s no bad blood: “As much as I wanted him to stay, I couldn’t make that promise. It’s better Henderson moved on.”
